The FRENCH HERITAGE LANGUAGE PROGRAM [FHLP] was created in 2005 by the
French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and received additional
support from the Alfred & Jane Ross Foundation. The
program offers French language instruction and cultural
activities for Francophone students (primarily from Africa
and Haiti) in New York City public schools. Through university
partnerships, the program hopes to contribute to scholarly
research in the field of heritage language learning in the
United States, France as well as other countries.
