To further French American cultural exchange and international understanding
and to support contemporary creative work in the arts and
education.
To develop and nurture relationships between professionals
in all creative fields, and to encourage collaborative projects
between cultural and educational institutions.
To combine the strengths of both the French and American
traditions of support for the arts and education in one common
initiative:
- French public support will include a long-term financial
commitment, professional expertise through a close partnership
with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, and official
endorsement of FACEs mission and programs.
- American participation will take the form of private support
from foundations, corporations, and individuals, which is
made possible by the independence and flexibility of FACEs
administrative structure. French private support will also
be sought.
FACE operates under the authority of a Board
of Trustees and is managed by an Executive Director,
with professional and logistical support from the
Cultural Services of the French Embassy. To enhance
FACEs responsiveness to the needs of
the arts and cultural communities in the U.S. and France,
each program will benefit from the guidance of a program committee.
The program committees will make recommendations of grants
to be distributed, provide general artistic and intellectual
orientation, and serve as cultural ambassadors to encourage
new collaborations in their respective fields.
