Antoine
is an overzealous headwaiter at a busy Parisian restaurant.
He enjoys taking care of people, the restaurant’s clients
and its staff. After coming to the rescue of Louis, a perfect
stranger who is about to commit suicide, Antoine begins to
feel responsible for him and genuinely wants to help him.
He brings him home, feeds him and houses him, and goes as
far as driving all night to Louis’ grandparents’
home to intercept his suicide letter. After giving him a crash
course on wine tasting, Antoine helps him get a job as wine
steward at his restaurant. Desperate to help Louis find happiness,
and also to get him out of his hair, Antoine secretly sets
out to play cupid and to find Louis’s ex-girlfriend
Blanche, the person responsible for his depression. When Antoine
finally finds Blanche at the flower shop where she works,
his act of kindness quickly becomes a fiasco: Antoine falls
in love with her himself. The three strangers, brought together
by chance, learn that there is a fine line between helping
others and helping oneself.
