New Guidelines

The Tournées Festival is a program of FACE, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, which aims to bring contemporary French cinema to American college and university campuses. We aim not only to nurture an appreciation of French film, but also to facilitate festival organizational experience on campuses. Our objective in providing nearly $200,000 in Tournées grants every year is to fund festival endeavors that can eventually become permanent and self-sustaining. Thus far, as we enter our 20th year, the Tournées Festival program has partnered with over 400 universities, reaching an audience of over 500,000 students and community members across the United States.

Thanks to the Franco-American Cultural Fund (SACEM), we are pleased to announce the addition of classic French films to the Tournées selection starting in 2014-2015. In addition to five contemporary French films, Tournées participants will now also select one additional film from the list of French classics that were restored/re-released in the U.S. in 2013.

We are proud to offer a wide variety of films that represent the best of contemporary French cinema distributed in the U.S. Beginning in 2014, we will also include a selection of recently restored classic French films. The Tournées festival films are selected to reflect the diversity of French film: from the popular to the experimental, from established and emerging talent, from both l’hexagone and la francophonie, to the giants of French film classics that join the selection starting in 2014, Tournées Festival presents a slice of the richness that French film has to offer.

Please note the application deadline of October 1st:
In past years, applicants would choose from two application cycles in the Spring and Fall semesters. This year, to simplify the application process, there will be only one deadline, on October 1, 2014. The application will be open from August until the deadline of October 1. Participants can expect a decision on their application around November 1, and can then plan their festivals any time during the remaining school year (festivals must conclude by June 30).

The Tournées Festival is made possible with the generous support of:
Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S.
Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée
Florence Gould Foundation
Campus France USA
